Common Names: Liquorice
The name Licorice has Greek origins and means "sweet root". Much of the sweetness in liquorice comes from glycyrrhizin, which has a sweet taste, 30–50 times the sweetness of sugar. Licorice is used in the treatment and control of viral hepatitis and for the treatment of Tuberculosis. It is also used for ulcers, sore throat, bronchitis, chronic gastritis, colic, menopausal symptoms, osteoarthritis and for bacterial and viral infections.
Instructions for use
Use 2 g (1 teaspoon) per serve. Add 1 tsp of herb to a cup of water and simmer for 5-10 minutes, strain and pour. Can be used to sweeten and flavour other herbal teas.
